Accountant
We are looking for an ambitious Accounting Manager to provide support to the finance department. The principal requirement of the role is to lead, administrate and monitor the company for Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance.
The role will specialize in leading the introduction of VAT in line with UAE regulations. Once introduced, the role will take charge of day to day management of VAT accounting, tax returns, and compliance reporting and evaluation. The role will require an ongoing constant awareness of changing VAT Regulations and will ensure that the company keeps in line with all current requirements in a proactive way. This will also require taking the lead internally with the support of the Legal Department to ensure that VAT is reflected in a robust way through all contractual terms.
The role has a controllership element to ensure that the company is not exposed at any point to VAT non-compliance. This includes the certainty over exclusions, calculation, timely and accurate payments and documentation required for internal and external audit purposes.
The ideal candidate must have solid experience working in a VAT jurisdiction and having been responsible for VAT compliance from start to finish. To succeed in this role, it requires bringing previous experience as a specialty rather than just familiarity.
The role also requires the candidate to have a good understanding of key IFRS accounting principles and General Ledger maintenance. The ability to work comfortably with numbers and pay attention to detail is a pre-requisite.
There may be other Accounting responsibilities assigned that will be on both a regular and changing basis. This will range from transactional work in to the key systems operated by the company, along with ad hoc reporting requirements.
This role contributes to the overall finance function therefore the candidate must be able to work well in a team, along with being highly flexible and responsive to additional leading duties as they change throughout the role.
Job Description :
Prepare the company VAT policy and working requirements to meet the policy.
Ensure that all relevant systems are capturing VAT in compliance with regulations.
Ensure that all relevant legal documentation reflects VAT components.
Train operational and finance staff where required to understand the impact of VAT.
Prepare VAT reconciliations based on internal policy and regulated requirements.
Identify and escalate any areas of non-compliance immediately.
VAT reporting on a consistent and ad hoc basis.
Indicate and implement any process improvement to help with efficient and accurate VAT processing and compliance.
Assist with monthly VAT ‘forecasts’ to ensure that timely payments are made.
Assist with the annual budget process for VAT input/output.
Minimise VAT Liabilities and identify potential tax planning opportunities wherever possible in an advisory style function.
Keep up to date with changing VAT and all other Tax regulations.
Perform ad hoc transactional and reporting tasks within the finance function.
Assist the team with the preparation of monthly closing requirements, adhering to deadlines.
Good Knowledge of Tally Software .
Desired Skill & Expertise :
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor Degree (Accounting/Finance specialty).
Experience with Tally ERP systems.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Excellent verbal and written English.
Experience required :
Must have recent experience as a accountant for a minimum of 2 years.
