Accounts receivable accountant is responsible for providing financial and administrative services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. The account receivable accountant must comply with established policies and procedures.
Key Tasks:
• Perform the day to day processing of financial transaction to ensure that municipal finance are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.
• Complete payroll function in order to ensure that the staff are paid in an accurate and timely manner.
• Provide administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient office operations.
• Posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
• Updates receivables by totaling unpaid invoices.
• Resolves valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries.
• Resolves invalid or unauthorized deductions by following pending deductions procedures.
• Summarizes receivables by maintaining invoice accounts; coordinating monthly transfer to accounts receivable account; verifying totals; preparing report.
• Assist in month – end financial statement close.
• Participate in on-going training as it relates to job functions or company requirements
• Debit/Credit memo creation and application when needed.
• Respond to credit card chargebacks.
• Provide documentation and answer receivables-related questions during year-end audit.
• Coordinate month-end accounts receivable close.
Qualification:
• Bachelor of Commerce (Masters preferred)
Experience:
• 5+ years of revenue accounting/accounts receivable experience or equivalent
