Application Architect Lead

Job Description
The Application Architect is responsible for providing expert domain knowledge, including workflow, design, and process, to drive positive end user experience and utilization of applications. The Application Architect also leads implementation activities for their domain and coordinates with clients and vendors to identify and resolve domain level architecture issues. The Application Architect must have expertise in diagnosing problems and coordinating the appropriate additional resources to determine and deliver resolution.
Responsibilities
Ensures the design of their domain of application(s) and the associated processes are completed successfully, leveraging best practices.
Manages process improvements effectively, leveraging existing implemented applications to achieve better performance and outcomes.
Consults with various Intellectual Property or 3rd Party organizations to influence direction and functionality.
Review and design workflow for multiple components of domain.
Contributes in a leadership capacity to advance the project team and its effectiveness. Shares knowledge capital and proactively identifies issues with client or within team that need to be addressed.
Contributes to team performance by providing key stakeholders with direction and critical domain knowledge to help drive best outcome for overall IT strategy.
Documents all work as part of client deliverables, consistently using a professional documentation approach throughout span of engagement and beyond, resulting in high quality materials for internal and external usage.
Monitors industry trends and identifies policies or requirements to ensure applications fit with government and industry directions for technology. Then consults with clients on the requirements and oversees the direction of the architecture.
Effectively communicates to clients about current and future domain functionality.
Leverages domain expertise to contribute to optimal application performance and utilization.
Maintains a deep knowledge of the application(s); stays at the forefront of knowledge around the application(s).
Responsible for contributing to the development and mentoring of Application Consultants.
Performs other responsibilities as needed.
Works in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures. Understands personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets.
Takes appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of role.
Follows Cerner policies, upholds professional standards, and performs all work in a manner respectful of others.

People/Team management experience – ability to provide leadership to a team of Consultants
Excellent written and verbal communication skill
Provides effective situation management and escalation
Strong relationship building skills
Demonstrated success in forming and managing relationships at a variety of levels
Ability to analyze process flow and software functionality and make recommendations
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work on a flexible schedule and overtime and/or irregular hours when needed.
Ability to learn and apply new skills and concepts quickly.

Proficient with Microsoft applications
Experience with Microsoft Project
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Ability to travel 50% as needed

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Background in healthcare, sciences, information systems, or business preferred.
Clinical background preferred.
