BackEnd Developer – Jumia Classifieds (Full Time)
We are currently looking for talented people to join our team and embark on an exciting journey in the core of business development and entrepreneurship.
Jumia Classifieds is made of four companies: 3 vertical classifieds, on Real Estate (Jumia House), Jobs (Jumia Jobs), Cars (Jumia Car) and a general classifieds (Jumia Deals) operating across 20+ countries in Africa.
Jumia House is the number one real estate platform in Africa. It serves as a platform for home buyers, sellers, renters and real estate professionals and is revolutionizing the industry by eliminating information asymmetries and making the house hunting process smoother and more democratic for all stakeholders.
Jumia Jobs is the number one pan-African job platform that connects the best talents with top companies across Africa. It is also the best place for the African diaspora to find job opportunities when returning to their home country.
Jumia Car is the leading online vehicle marketplace in Africa providing buyers the easiest way to gather information that helps them confidently identify high quality and fair-priced vehicles.
Jumia Deals is a fast-growing general classifieds platform in Africa where people can buy and sell used goods and services in their cities. Our mission is to provide a free, easy-to-use, fast and localized website that connects buyers and sellers locally to buy or sell their used items and / or services.
Jumia Classifieds are part of Jumia Group which operates 10 different companies across more than 25 countries and backed by MTN, Millicom, AXA, Orange, Goldman Sachs, CDC and Rocket Internet.
Mission statement:
We are expending our Tech Tech team and this is a unique opportunity to join a talented and best practice oriented Team. Your roadmap will be to rebuilt with us our 2 websites (Jumia House and Jumia Car) based on our new framework that we actually use for Jumia deals.
You will:
Join our tech team, and take technical ownership of our product.
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team (CTO, Mobile developer, DevOps, QA engineers, Product Owners) oriented to continuous delivery;
Take ownership for your code to be qualitatively high and participate to code reviews.
You should have the following profile:
Excellent knowledge of PHP and experience with Symfony or Phalcon framework.
You like to apply design pattern, and follow the best practice in your daily work.
Object oriented design and programming, Unit Testing and Functional Testing.
Good knowledge on: SQL, PHP, ElasticSearch, Redis, Git Workflow, Docker
Profiling your code and apply efficient logic in your development to cope with our high traffic and scalability need. (we like to keep or server transaction below 60ms)
Fluency in English.
