Bids Manager / Senior Bids Executive
will sits as part of two teams, the regional Business Development team and the Central Bids team. The regional BD team is currently comprised of the BD Manager and a BD Executive. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing pitch and bid documents that relate to winning work, whether in response to formal or informal requests.
Central Bids team (within the Business Development department), comprises of 14 specialists from both the professional services and other sectors. The team has been in existence for circa 10 years and has a strong track record of winning tenders. Their current win rate is above the industry average and they have achieved this by focusing on competitive opportunities, following best practice and investing in their bids team.
More senior members of the team support on panels (and strategic transactions) that fall within the firm's sectors. The more junior members support on the transaction bid. The Bid Manager will receive support with administration from a Bids Assistant, freeing them to focus on bid strategy, messaging, structure and overall content direction to create impactful bids that address the clients' requirements.
As well as supporting live opportunities, the individual will drive projects forward and enhance their knowledge of the sector to continually improve the bids material available to the firm regionally.
Main duties and responsibilities:
· Work with the Head of Office to gain an understanding of the regional strategy
· Taking full responsibility for managing bids at tender and presentation stages
· Providing strategic advice and coaching to partners
· Undertaking opportunity analysis – is this viable / is the bid in line with firm and sector strategy
· Organising kick-off meetings, to guide relevant stakeholders to prepare a strategy and ensure responsibilities are allocated
· Collating scoping questions and being involved in the scoping call/meeting
· Allocating tasks to make the most of time available
· Editing content to create a 'one voice' message
· Complete client debriefs to identify learning points, feedback to the firm and take forward learning
· Analysing, reporting on and enhancing best practice within the firm
Person Specification
Qualifications:
· Degree qualified or equivalent
· APMP preferred, but not essential
Relevant Experience:
· Extensive experience of managing bids, providing advice on approach and strategy (ideally, 4+ years)
· Writing and editing copy for client facing documents
· Legal or other professional services sector experience preferred
· Working across international offices and time zones
Key Skills:
· Managing, guiding and advising throughout a bidding process
· Excellent writing skills and editing skills
· Strong document production skills (MS Word, Power Point)
· Motivated and confident with good communication skills
· Project and time management skills – juggling different bids and priorities
