The Cargo Operator is part of the Cargo Execution team in the Maersk Line West and Central Asia Liner Operations cluster and is responsible for enabling cost efficient and smooth cargo operations for our customers cargo to and from all vessels calls, both mainliner- and feeder vessels carrying Maersk Line cargo. 

This position is part of the West and Central Asia Liner Operations cluster (WCALOC). WCA LOC is responsible for vessel schedules, allocation management, VSA coordination, port productivity, procuring and controlling Container Yard, Port Expenses and Foreign Feeder costs, load and discharge processes, Equipment Maintenance and Repair, Intermodal transport, equipment positioning and evacuation. WCA LOC is a highly international environment and consists of approximately 70 driven colleagues and is based in Dubai, UAE

You are in the heart of Maersk Lines cargo operations managing a number of ports in the Maersk Line shipping network. You are responsible for seamless cargo operations for Maersk line units to and from vessels, both Maersk and non-Maersk operated. You need to coordinate between various internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all planned units are loaded are per the promise to our customers, against the lowest possible cost. Costs and service delivery are the key drivers of your daily decisions and you constantly seek structural improvements to drive efficiencies and bring down cost 
Key Responsibilities
  • Enable smooth load- and discharge operations for Maersk line cargo. Manages the load-, discharge- and transhipment-processes for the ports within scope
  • Plan, execute and communicate operational contingencies
  • Pro-actively resolve load list challenges avoiding cargo being left behind and improve upstream process to structurally increase the load list accuracy
  • Exception Handling: Execute all exception handling
  • Manage all operational tasks
  • Manage all special operational tasks
  • System Proficiencies
  • Develop, maintain and implement disaster readiness and recovery plan as well as seasonal preparedness plans for terminal operations
  • Analyse root causes on unfavourable cost, identifies impacting actions and drives the implementation of cost saving initiatives across the WCA LOC teams
  • Improve customer’s satisfaction by ensuring cargo is delivered as per our promise
  • Builds strong working relationships with key internal-, external stakeholders, like container terminals and authorities, to continuously drive down cost, improve the product delivered to our customers and optimize processes
  • Closely works together with the country clusters on meeting and exceeding customers’ expectations

  • B.S. / B.A. degree or a minimum of three years’ work experience in a transportation field.
  • Shipping or Logistics experience is a nice to have
  • Demonstrated ability in using computer and Windows PC applications, which includes strong keyboard and navigation skills and learning new computer programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Microsoft Access experience is a nice to have
  • Coding experience is a nice to have
  • 24/7 Schedule Availability
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast pace environment
