We are looking for a talented individual to support the creation and implementation of all MENA related communications plans for Springer Nature, with particular focus on all local language needs. Responsibilities
General
• Develop, monitor and manage the delivery of marketing communications plans for key projects including those for external partners
• Research and co-ordinate and track event presence in the MENA region, including speaker slots, delegate passes and budget
• Plan annual budget for communications in MENA region and track cost against budget
Corporate Communications
• Together with line managers, develop and implement public relations strategy for MENA region
• Develop PR plans as needed, to include press releases, pitches and social media
• Maintain and develop schedule of regional corporate press activities
• Maintain and proactively develop press contacts database and build relationships with press contacts in regional press, with a strong focus on TV, radio and major newspapers and websites
• Arrange media tours in Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Egypt
• Support colleagues with media briefings and interview coaching as required
• Draft and/or translate corporate press releases in consultation with relevant colleagues
• Translate editorial press releases from English; put together Arabic press releases and distribute
• Issue press releases and pitches, and follow-up
• Field corporate media enquiries, and arrange interviews as required
• Identify opportunities for feature articles/contributed articles and pitch
• Identify and pursue opportunities for content syndication, in collaboration with line managers
• Identify and pursue opportunities for strategic partnerships and corporate social responsibility initiatives, in collaboration with line managers
• Liaise with institutional and product marketing teams and the editorial press office to ensure plans are synergised
• Monitor and report on Springer Nature corporate and editorial press coverage in the region
• Organise events and manage event management companies as required
• Provide logistical support for Springer Nature in the region
• Represent Springer Nature at events when required
• Support Springer Nature’s internal communications as needed
• Ensure smooth running of team including organising meetings and other administrative tasks
• Other tasks such as the company may require from time to time
Social Media
• Manage the Social Media Executive in MENA
• Supervise the development and implementation of the social media plans in MENA region

Experience, skills and qualifications
Essential
• Demonstrable marketing and/or communications experience within the media industry in MENA.
• Experience of web marketing
• Experience working with external partners
• Understanding of, or demonstrable interest in publishing industry
• Understanding of the media and cultural landscape in the MENA, particularly in Saudi Arabia
• Highly effective written and verbal communication (in Arabic and English)
• Good copywriting
• Event management and project management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and projects
• Presentation skills
• General office skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel
• Research and reporting skills, including internet research
• Willingness to travel regularly
• Undergraduate degree (ideally in science, science communication, business or marketing)
