Director Editor in Chief (French Desk)

Department Definition

The Marketing Communications department handles all aspects of brand management, marketing collateral, promotions, social media, creative content and communications (including internal, external, public relations and media relations). The department outsources a number of activities to external agencies, managing those relationships and briefing them on work required;

Opportunity Responsibilities

The Director Editor in Chief (French Desk) will demonstrate broad experience and a capacity for big ideas, and have the temperament to help manage content producers who are supporting various departments within Expo 2020 Dubai and directs a staff of content producers and writers with a focus on improving Expo 2020 Dubai’s editorial style and tone in French.

Responsibilities :
  • The Director Editor in Chief (French Desk) will work with the communications teams on generating content, editing, scheduling, story assignment and long-range planning of features on all platforms;
  • Leading in ensuring Expo 2020 Dubai's writing is of the highest standard and reflects a conversational tone;
  • To be responsible for overseeing the consistency of the Expo 2020 Dubai's editorial style, and communicating with Expo 2020 Dubai's writing and editing team and agencies;
  • Ensuring changes in procedures and workflow are appropriately communicated, and managed through the implementation of new technologies;
  • To direct the day-to-day operation of the content generation team in the communications department.
Skills

15+ years of professional experience with in the industry as well as:

  • Superior oral and written French communication skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Political Science, International Affairs. Communications or a related discipline;
  • Proven management ability and excellent interpersonal, leadership, and judgment and negotiation skills required;
  • Provide editorial vision and direction for editorial and content staff;
  • Ability to utilize multiple information sources, including research results, and to analyze complex information to identify trends and develop successful editorial strategies.
