General Manager

As a member of Munich Re the MedNet Group is a leading TPA across the MEA region. We are currently seeking to hire a General Manager who will be in charge of the business operations in the UAE and Oman including but not limited to the following tasks and responsibilities:

YOUR JOB
  • In conjunction with the Head of MedNet, contribute to the formulation and implementation of the strategy in the UAE and Oman in line with Munich Re’s vision, mission and corporate objectives
  • In conjunction with the Munich Re regional office contribute to developing new reinsurance and TPA business opportunities in the UAE and Oman markets and participate in negotiations with clients
  • Oversee the implementation and management of the operating and control procedures of MedNet UAE and Oman to ensure accountability, efficiency and integrity of the operational departments
  • Oversee and recommend MedNet UAE and Oman budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget in order to ensure transparency of costs/ revenues as well as identifying areas of unsatisfactory performance and potential areas of cost reduction or performance improvement
  • Lead and manage the maintenance of an extensive medical network and trade contacts to ensure the effective achievement of defined managed health care objectives and optimum customer satisfaction
  • Create a healthy and enabling organisation culture and climate so that an environment exists where all employees are able to perform to their full potential and overall business performance is maximised.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of organisational change initiatives so that all planned, potential opportunities are capitalised upon and operational efficiency is maintained.
  • Maintain a thorough awareness of external economic conditions locally and globally within the health care sector to allow informed decision making concerning the definition of business strategy.

YOUR PROFILE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Financial Management or equivalent as well as a globally recognised Insurance qualification
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a Third Party Administration (TPA) or insurance company, of which at least 5 years at a senior managerial level in a similar environment
  • Thorough understanding of general (health) insurance principles and business models with knowledge about applicable local market laws and regulations
  • Business-minded, strategic orientation and conceptual thinking with general management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organisation with fluency in business English; Arabic is an advantage
  • Ability to manage a multi-cultural work force with effective coaching and mentoring skills and ability to motivate teams at different levels
  • Excellent negotiation problem solving skills
  • Strong customer focus
