Job Description
You would work with our geotechnical and tunneling team based in the Dubai Office. Our projects mainly support the highways, bridges, water, rail, ports and maritime, airports, and energy sectors. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to follow projects from the conceptual phase through the construction phase, working on traditional design-bid-build as well as design-build projects. You must be a self-motivated individual a minimum of 5 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required. You will be expected to demonstrate a strong technical knowledge of the principles of soil mechanics, geotechnical design, and be able to effectively work with a team of other engineers.
Experience with geotechnical design, deep foundation and earth retaining structure design, seismic evaluations will contribute to your success. Advanced numerical modeling background will be beneficial. The ideal candidate will have a wide breadth of practical geotechnical knowledge, and the desire to grow personally as well as professionally.
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and evaluating geotechnical and civil data, conducting geotechnical, storm water and other numerical analyses, design of water conveyance and soil structures, writing reports and developing design recommendations. Each day, you will have the opportunity to follow projects from concept through the construction phase with our office of geotechnical and environmental engineers, geo-scientists and to work on current and upcoming design-build projects.
As a geotechnical engineer you would be expected to have the following experience:
Participate in field assignments that will include observation of explorations (soil borings, test pits, CPT probes, geophysical testing) and geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and inspection of earth retaining structures, landfills, waste basin covers, and shallow foundations.
Design landfills, basin covers, waste impoundments, earth retaining structures, ground improvement, embankment and cut slopes, and foundations, .
Are familiar with BS and ASTM testing methods, analyze laboratory testing results and select geotechnical design parameters.
Preferably prepare design drawings using AutoCAD or Microstation.
Prepare and review technical reports, data reports and construction completion reports.
Use computer programs such as Settle3D, Slope/W, FB-Pier, Slide, Deep-Ex, GRL-Weap, Phase2D and Plaxis to complete engineering analysis and prepare design calculations.
Prepare construction specifications following our master specifications.
Work in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams across the Middle East, Asia Pacific and other regions across the world
Share technical knowledge across geographical boundaries to foster innovative project solutions.
Possess an outgoing and positive attitude, are dependable and meet all assigned project deadlines.
Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
