HSE Advisor / Safety Officer

Education: Diploma in Fire & Safety/ NIFE/ NEBOSH IGC

Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge in Fire & Safety systems, Fire & Safety standards, MS office

Experience: 3 to 5 years as HSE Rep or HSE Inspector

Reports to: Sr. HSE Advisor/ HSE Coordinator/ Manager- QHSE

Responsibilities:

Assist HSE Coordinator/HSE Head in developing health safety and environment programmes and strategies best suited for operatives;
Ensuring that all necessary precautions are taken to prevent causes for potential diseases at work;
Ensuring that safe working procedure is followed when working in hazardous environments or with potentially harmful substances;
Providing advice and information to operatives on site with regards to health and safety and advising on changes required thereof;
Investigating incidents and/or accidents and hazards reported at site in a view to minimise accidents & incidents.
Enforcement of the legal and other requirements as identified in the legal register of applicable laws.
Visiting various work premises to inspect processes and procedures and ensure good health and safety practice;
Ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are available for any hazardous substances.
Ensure that all PPEs issued to the workforce are appropriate to the task as specified in CHALMERS operating Procedures and as per relevant risk assessments/JSA s
Conducting Emergency mock up drills, site safety talks and site safety meetings.
Preparing Risk assessments and JSAs for complex tasks and ensuring that all control measures are implemented.
