Junior Associate – Non-Contentious Shipping (Dubai)
Job purpose
To assist partners in the shipping team with a wide variety of non-contentious transactional matters. Our expertise includes advising on: – Secured lending, leasing and export – Trade finance – Joint ventures – Sale and purchase agreements – Shipbuilding and offshore construction contracts – Acquisition of maritime assets and/or companies
Job requirements
Responsibilities include:
Advising and assisting marine companies in relation to refinancing matters
Advising maritime companies in bidding activities for projects including reviewing vessel construction and operating contracts, charter parties and financing agreements.
Assisting trading companies with acquisitions, sales, storage and shipment of commodities.
Assisting international finance institutions with multi-tiered acquisitions of assets including managing and drafting documentation, liaising with Counsel across multiple jurisdictions and attending and managing the delivery of assets.
Working closely with the internal transaction teams on improvements and maintaining precedents and template documentation.
Assisting in drafting and attending pitches for new clients, attending client events and assisting with marketing and branding initiatives for the firm such as drafting articles on UAE law updates.

Candidate requirements
Ideal candidates will have:
A minimum of a 6 months seat up to 2 years in a non-contentious shipping or asset finance team within a reputable law firm with a strong reputation in the field of shipping and marine finance
A versatile transactional lawyer with a finance background with an interest in the maritime sector
The ability to work in a team and autonomously
Drive, enthusiasm and be a flexible team player
The capability to act as the first point of contact for some smaller clients in some instances
A real interest in marketing/business development and the ability to foster long term relationships
A willingness to assume responsibility and take a pro-active and commercial approach to issues
