Lab Technician / Phlebotomist
1. Organizes and performs or supports patient testing and facilitates overall function of the entire lab. Required to perform phlebotomy.
2. Assures quality results through the use and evaluation of control measures, proper instrument maintenance & collection and analysis of appropriate samples.
3. Recognizes abnormal results or unusual circumstances and takes appropriate actions
4. Retrieve patient results and reports in a timely manner and completes required documentation, which may include chain of custody.
5. Utilizes available resources to maintain and fix instruments or problem solve issues in collaboration with the Pathologist doctor.
6. Identifies current professional and technical issue and their impact on lab practices.
7. Maintains current knowledge and skills applicable to job assignment through continuing education or professional organizations.
8. Shares new information with all lab staff, attends team meetings and effectively orients new staff. To participate in clinical activities to improve patient care / lab systems
9. Verifies patient demographics, insurance and diagnostic test information to insure accurate billing or documentation.
