Basic Functions
The role is responsible for the development and execution of a communications strategy that aligns to the business’s long term objectives and positions McDermott positively with all key local audiences, internal and external. The role sits on the MEA Leadership Team as well as the KSA Transition Steering Group and has a functional reporting line to the Area VP.
Content
  • · Manages content strategy to ensure content is maximized by re-purposing across all channels, both locally and globally
  • Produces a range of dynamic, quality and strategically aligned content using various mediums (including video, visual, e-communications) to promote engagement internally and promote McDermott externally. Including but not limited to intranet stories, emails, letters, media articles, features.
Internal communications
  • Works with various internal teams to develop and execute integrated and strategic internal communication plans designed to inform and inspire internal audiences
  • Owns the MEA LinQ internal intranet including producing regular content, devising new and exciting content ideas, updating static content and in conjunction with other functions, building out new sub-pages.
  • Develops and leads internal campaigns in conjunction with the relevant disciplines, ensuring a multi-channel, integrated approach
  • Develop a business narrative to help ensure buy-in from employees on strategic vision
  • Lead the KSA transition communications strategy
External communications
  • Develops and executes a program of profile-raising activity designed to drive brand-awareness, tell our story locally and support the business strategy by promoting new revenue streams, key differentiators and business successes and updates.
  • Effectively and efficiently run the press office function including identifying proactive opportunities, managing incoming press enquiries, putting together interview briefings, administering media training as required and drafting articles and press releases.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts across print, online and broadcast B2B and B2C outlets locally, as well as key global publications.
  • Advises and supports on other external communications as necessary including speeches, letters, invites etc.
Crisis Communications
  • Is the designated communications lead in the event of a crisis situation locally
  • Monitors, identifies and advises on all elements of reputational risk
  • Delivers adhoc crisis communications/ media training to ensure leaders are equipped in the event of an escalation
Marketing
· Oversees presence at major trade shows (ie ADIPEC) including sponsorship, publicity, exhibition stands, meeting
  • Manages design studio to ensure brand compliant, visually consistent, high quality outputs
  • Oversees creative for all advertising campaigns and one-off adverts
  • Develops & updates marketing collateral for use at events, to promote new revenue streams or to market strategic initiatives
Measurement & reporting
  • Measures impact of communications activities and campaigns through various mechanisms (such as readership statistics, surveys, feedback forums) and adapts accordingly
  • Reports regularly to MEA Executive Leadership Team on progress against agreed plan and deliverables
Leadership
  • Leads a team of four FTE employees
  • Contributes to Leadership Team decisions; participates in Leadership Team forums and meeting
  • Embraces role as a leader in the business, getting involved in leadership activities as necessary

Job Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or other relevant discipline OR comparable work experience
Experience
  • 8+ years in a Corporate Communications role.
  • 5+ years in a Corporate Communications leadership position.
  • Experience operating in a multi-national environment preferred.
  • Prior Oil and Gas industry experience preferred.
