MARINE MECHANIC

The client is a specialized marine services provider based in Dubai and providing a full range of sales, service and maintenance activities. The Marine Mechanic installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains engines, drive trains and other mechanical, electrical and fluid systems used in the recreational marine industry. This work involves all aspects of repairs to diesel engines, gasoline engines, outboard engines, conventional inboard drive trains and stern drives. Main Activities:

• Pre-delivery inspections of engines on new boats
• Periodic servicing of engines of boats used for marina operations
• Marine engine problem diagnostics
• Inboard/Outboard repairs
• Engine servicing; changing oil, filters etc.
• Troubleshoot problems for customers, provide recommendations for problem resolution; provide estimates to customer for repair, replacement, and installation according to problem diagnosis and repair/replacement recommendation
• Customer contact, parts order and follow-up
• Communicate with manufacturer technical help
• Additional skills, training and experience in other aspects of boat maintenance and service would be a distinct advantage gelcoat and woodwork repairs

Qualifications:

• Yacht Master or equivalent - preferably qualified and experienced to drive boats up to 15 meters
• Candidate must possess at least a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in any related field
• Preferably equipped with a certificate from a technical school with specialization in mechanical/engine repairs with experience can have been gained on any of the following brands: Mercruiser, Volvo Penta, Mercury, Mariner, Yamaha, MAN, GMU
• Suitably qualified motor mechanics with experience in four stroke and two stroke engines outside of the marine trade will be considered
• Current driver’s License

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

• At least 3 year(s) of working experience as a Marine Mechanical

Technician is required for this position.

• Prior experience in a boatbuilding facility will be evaluated positively
• Fluent in English

Personal Qualities:

• The applicant should be self motivated and capable of working with the minimum of supervision and have good inter-personal skills
