Principal Geotechnical Engineer - Dubai, UAE

CH2M has a great opportunity for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join and help further grow our team in Dubai.

You will work with our strong team of geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, hydrogeologists and geo-environmental specialists to ensure geotechnical designs are appropriate, meet standards of quality and are delivered to programme.

Many of our schemes are multi-disciplinary and will require liaison with project teams of varying complexity and size. Our projects mainly lie within the highways, rail, water, maritime, airports, bridges, buildings and energy sectors.

Job Responsibilities include:

• Manage geotechnical work on projects in the MENA-APAC region, as well as other regions.
• Provide expertise in geotechnical and sub surface infrastructure solutions on a range of Transportation, Water, Environmental, and Energy projects.
• Assist with developing the Tunnel and Earth Engineering (TEE) team based in UAE; as well as supervision of geotechnical sub-contractors and specialists.
• Geotechnical risk assessment reviews for projects and prospects
• Provide technical review and risk management support on work being conducted by sub-consultants and contractors on behalf of CH2M.
• Develop/mentor junior engineers.
• Lead the production of geotechnical reports, specifications, and drawings.
• Attend meetings and competently communicate with clients, sub-contractors and major asset owners and stakeholders.
• Manage and develop strategic client relationships.
• Provide support to BD opportunities with technical and other costing support.
• Enhance and develop existing and new Clients across the CH2M client sectors.
• Manage reach back to CH2M Tunnel and Earth Engineering global expertise, as required.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  
• MSc or PhD in Civil / soil mechanics / geotechnical engineering (or closely related subject)
  
• Chartered Engineer (ICE or equivalent) preferred
  
• Minimum 10 years of experience in which minimum of 5 years should be in the Middle East
  

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:

• A sound academic knowledge of civil and geotechnical engineering concepts
  
• Competent in geotechnical design of shallow and deep foundations, slopes, earthworks, retaining structures, ground improvement and seismic aspects of design
  
• Excellent knowledge of geotechnical design software including but not limited to Plaxis.
  
• A sound knowledge of design codes and standards such as Eurocodes, AASHTO, British Standards and local authority regulations such as RTA, Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi Municipality and other authorities in MENA
  
• Strong communication skills with fluency in verbal and written English
  
• Excellent planning & organizing skills
