Quantity Surveyor

MWH, now part of Stantec, is currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor for the construction of a minimum 10 m diameter tunnel in Dubai. This project will involve undertaking investigations, planning, designing, tendering, contract administration and construction monitoring. Key accountabilities for this position include but are not limited to: • Measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings) for Valuations, Variations and Final Accounts • Preparing detailed, accurate and orderly measurements in accordance with relevant measurement standards, preparing accounts and obtaining agreement at earliest possible date • Agreement of valuation dates and preparing, submitting and agreement of interim valuations in accordance with those dates • Providing detailed record and valuation of work executed with application of principles of cash maximisation and issuing of draft invoices and advising of agreed valuations dates. • Full understanding of contractual requirements. • Recognising and advising Site Manager on delays, extensions of time and loss and/or expense and ensuring relevant notices are issued. • Full understanding of site progress and issues and application of relevant Contract Conditions • Ensuring adequate records are kept for the purposes of valuing variations and ascertaining loss and/or expense • Maintaining records of resource allocation including labour, plant and materials and reviewing subcontract correspondence for delay and loss and/or expense claims • Development and submission of claims for delay and disruption and loss and / or expense. • Preparation of claim documentation and information for submission to Clients / Consultants within required timescales • Providing estimates and quotations for additional works • Satisfying Client deadlines for estimates and quotations. • Bachelor’s Degree in in a Quantity Surveying Discipline from a recognized University •Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar level role, preferably in the GCC. •Tunnelling experience is a MUST •Solid foundation of technical knowledge on standard processes and procedures in relevant technical fields. •The ability to manage a heavy workload, with a close attention to detail. •Excellent computer skills. •A customer-focused approach, possessing impressive communication skills. •The ability to work autonomously, reviewing your work on a regular basis while consistently meeting your objectives and the capabilities to meet tight deadlines. •Committed to working with all levels of management on a daily and ongoing basis. •A proactive approach, working effectively in co-ordinating activities and complex tasks, taking professional responsibility in all matters. •Be of the highest calibre: punctual, attentive and competent in adhering to MWH policies, procedures and working practices. •A flexible approach to working hours and travel.
