The Research Assistant will also support the CEO in the same activities towards written publications (op-eds, blog posts, newspaper articles), speeches, interviews, and any other relevant activities. In addition to gaining practical experience related to conducting research, coordination of projects, and communications, the Research Assistant will get a better understanding of the education sector in the region, while experiencing working in a vibrant educational foundation serving the Arab world.
This is a full-time role based in Dubai with a competitive salary. The ideal candidate will be bilingual (English and Arabic) and have a strong interest in philanthropy and education in the Arab region. We are looking for a highly motivated and committed individual to join our dynamic team and make a meaningful contribution to the work of the Foundation.
The Foundation is investing in innovative high impact programs that will provide a minimum of 15,000 high-achieving, underserved Emirati and Arab youth with access to educational opportunities. With an initial budget of AED 4.2 billion over the next 10 years the Foundation focuses on three programs designed specifically for Emirati and Arab youth; Al Ghurair Young Thinkers Program, Al Ghurair STEM Scholars Program and Al Ghurair Open Learning Scholars Program.
In addition to its three core programs the Foundation aims to advance thought leadership by conducting research on areas of priority to the Foundation. The research priorities for 2017 are focused on the value of higher education, and especially graduate studies in the Arab world; perceptions around online learning; best practices in scholarship programs from the Arab world; refugee education (secondary and/or higher education); and philanthropy in the Arab world.

Job Summary
The Research Assistant will work with the Research Manager on research and coordination activities that relate to the annual priorities. This will include collecting, compiling, and organizing data, information, reports, and other publications; writing, editing, and presenting analyses in the form of summaries, short presentations, and other documents as well as tables and graphs; supporting in communicating with and gathering data from relevant partners and stakeholders through field visits, surveys, phone interviews, and meetings.The Research Assistant will also support the CEO in the same activities towards written publications (op-eds, blog posts, newspaper articles), speeches, interviews, and any other relevant activities. Education, Skills & Experience
- Recent graduate in the social sciences with qualitative and/or quantitative research skills
- Strong interest in education, youth issues, and philanthropy in the Arab world and experience living and/or working in the region
- Excellent research and writing skills and demonstrated writing experience
- Strong organization skills and an ability to work independently, prioritise and time-manage tasks
- Excellent attention to detail
