Senior Engineer - Mechanical, UAE

Responsible for implementations and monitoring of all mechanical related works at site as per approved drawings and methods and safety rules. Reports to the Project Lead/ Senior Discipline Engineer/ Manager on site. Oversees reviews & manages and monitors implementation of the construction documents on site. Responsible to manage teams of discipline Inspectors on site. Supports the Project Lead/ Senior Discipline Engineer/ Manager technically and liaises with the design office, contractor and client counterparts to ensure that the construction is carried out in accordance with plans and specifications. Responsible for implementations and monitoring of all mechanical related works at site as per approved drawings and methods and safety rules.

Job Duties
  • Estimates, prepares and assigns the resources such as manpower, materials, consumables, equipment, tools, etc., required for all Mechanical and related works prior to execution.
  • Plans and analyses all possible construction methodologies and recommends the best options to the MEP Manager for approval prior to execution at site.
  • Interprets construction drawings and studies the contract documents and applicable standards or specifications prior to execution of any jobs.
  • Manages directly and provide engineering and technical supports to all the Mechanical work groups at site.
  • Plans the execution of all Mechanical related works and coordinates the works to Electrical and civil groups. Assign targets for accomplishments and ensure targets are met on daily basis for all Mechanical groups at site.
  • Submits site daily reports, inspection requests, estimates and all applicable monitoring reports on regular basis or as required. Supports the MEP Manager in accomplishing all the goals and targets for the Mechanical and electrical groups at site.
  • Ensures that all the works done are in accordance with the approved construction drawings, contract documents, project specifications, and all applicable standards whether local, national or international standards.
  • Ensures that all site works are done according to all applicable quality standards.
  • Directly responsible for the safety of all Mechanical groups’ personnel of the project by ensuring that the project execution will be done according to all applicable health, safety, sanitary and environmental standards.
  • Carrying out all Mechanical Works and equipment’s installation activities
  • Attends regular meeting with client, civil engineers and consultant to provide update on project progress.
  • Re-resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems at site that may arise at any time.
  • To collaborate with cost control and planning department in preparing the daily progress reports.
  • Able to lead site personnel to execute and completion of job on time at site.
  • Mentors Junior Engineers and performs other related duties as may be required by the MEP Manager.

Minimum Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as a professional engineer qualification.
  • Membership of recognized institutions preferred (Society of Engineers ASHRAE).
  • Sustainability credentials such as LEED or BREEAM a plus.
  • Experience in all Mechanical related Systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage, Fire Fighting and Irrigation) required.
  • A minimum 10 years’ plus experience on Major Buildings projects/ Mixed use developments/ retail and High Rise projects
  • Minimum 3-4 years of UAE/Middle East experience required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Good knowledge in basic design requirements, familiar with all the Mechanical Engineering methodologies, Building Codes as well as the corresponding equipment, materials, consumables, tools, budgets, scheduling and manpower allocations related to Mechanical works for building projects. Specific experience in Buildings of all types in particular high-rise, mixed use residential and commercial, retail and hospitality.
  • Good team player with high energy levels.
  • Able to supervise a team of inspectors efficiently and competently.
  • Safety conscious with a high level of work ethic
  • Ability to work under pressure and with professional judgement and a solutions type of approach
