Due to an increasing demand for local hydrogeological expertise on our projects in the UAE and surrounding regions, CH2M has a great opportunity for a Senior Hydrogeologist to join our team in Dubai.
Job Description
You will be working on hydrogeological projects in the Middle East and Asia Pacific region and will be working with a team of hydrogeologists, geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, geo-environmental specialists and water engineers within our State and Local Governments Client Sector.
Many of CH2M’s projects are multi-disciplinary of varying complexity and size. Our projects mainly lie within the highways, rail, water, maritime, airports, bridges, buildings and energy sectors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing hydrogeological proposals, studies and designs to support infrastructure, urban development, environmental and water resources projects, including:
Attend meetings and give presentations to new and existing Clients across the CH2M client sectors for delivery of hydrogeological work and prospects
Support business development opportunities and prepare hydrogeological (inputs to) proposals
Preparation and delivery of hydrogeological desk studies, feasibility studies and groundwater impact studies
Scoping of hydrogeological field investigations, pump testing and groundwater monitoring plans, preparation of specifications, supervision services and contract management
Preparation and delivery of construction dewatering consultancy services for major infrastructure design projects, review of dewatering contractor’s method statements and designs, evaluation of dewatering system performance, including trouble-shooting during construction stage.
Preparation and delivery of groundwater rise studies and groundwater management plans for large-scale developments, including sub-surface drainage system designs, evaluation of groundwater water quality, groundwater discharge/re-use options and evaluation of irrigation system efficiency.
Develop/train or mentor other hydrogeologists.
· Provide hydrogeological expertise to various projects and ensure deliverables meet client expectations, high standards of quality and are delivered to program.
Required to visit project sites across the UAE and within the region as needed.
He/she will work closely with our Principal Hydrogeologist/Hydrogeology Lead and will be accountable to the Tunnels and Earth Engineering regional manager, both based in Dubai.
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Minimum Qualifications:
· Master Degree in Hydrogeology (or closely related subject)
· Minimum 10 years of post-graduate experience in Hydrogeology, preferably with experience in the Middle East.
The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:
· Excellent knowledge and skills in numerical groundwater flow modelling using MicroFEM, Feflow or Modflow.
· Sound knowledge of hydrogeological software such as Surfer, MLU, AquaChem.
· Preferably the candidate is familiar with working in geotechnical/civil engineering teams
· Appreciation of geotechnical design of underground structures, excavations and retaining structures
· Excellent planning, organizing and presentation skills
· Commitment to professional and personal self-development
· The candidate should be a team player with strong communication skills but who can also work independently
· Motivated to deliver high quality and to tight programmes
· Excellent written and spoken English is required
