Home Automation Design Engineer

Redwood Technologies (Dubai, UAE) has an immediate opening for a home automation Design Engineer. The ideal candidate is an expert in home automation and system integration technologies, with 5+ years hands-on and/or design experience with audio video, lighting control, security, video surveillance, HVAC, IP networking (LAN, WLAN & WAN) and wireless technologies such as ZigBee. Extensive knowledge of home automation solutions is essential. Lots of initiative and enthusiasm is essential!

Description of Duties:
Evaluate client requirements to determine the most suitable components from a broad product portfolio.
Produce priced BOQs in a clear and concise manner to allow sales staff to clearly understand the design and convey the information to clients.
Use software such as AutoCAD, Visio and specialist software to give accurate representation to sales staff when presenting opportunities as well as project managers to facilitate project execution in line with the design criteria.
Use value engineering techniques to determine cost effective designs in order to remain highly competitive whilst ensure project profitability is not sacrificed.
Take ownership of design decisions and shared concepts to provide sleek, scalable and cost effective solutions from entry level to ultra luxury;
Ensure corporate standards, policies and procedures are developed, implemented and adhered to in order to standardise design documentation.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Solid understanding of home automation technologies with 5+ years hands-on and/or design experience.
Solid understanding, proficient and experienced in the use AutoCAD and Visio software for the production of layouts, single line and block diagrams.
Working knowledge of ZigBee and related applications.
Well versed in design patterns and development practices that lead to correct and stable products and solutions.
Well versed in high-end Audio/Video technologies, terminologies and practices.
Driven to innovate, pragmatic, and can work well within schedule and budget constraints.
Must be comfortable working under pressure and able to prioritise workload effectively.
Understanding and experience in AMX, Crestron, KNX, Savant, Dynalite, Lutron, Somfy, Rako, Sonos, Leaf, Extron, RTI, HAI, Texecom, Ruckus, Axis, a major plus.
Understanding and experience in Building Management, Guest Room Management, Digital Signage, Video Conferencing systems a major plus.

Supporting Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science (or equivalent degree or experience).
Bachelor degree in Electrical and/or Electronic engineering.
Bachelor degree in Computer Network Engineering.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
CEDIA Qualifications
Strong communication (verbal and written) and team skills in small agile development groups.
