Responsible for liaising with internal and external customers to understand the demand and supply positions. Analyzes market trends to determine trade opportunities. Execute physical trading opportunities within the Company’s credit, trading and risk framework and ensures compliance to the policies. Make economic decisions that leads to profits for the Company. Is accountable for the end to end trading outcome that includes contract management, operations, shipping and financial requirements related to the trade.
Major Responsibilities:
- Initiate trades and discuss/present to Trading Manager for clearance. Perform market analysis, reports, and projections and trade flows, whether physical or paper including sourcing/supply opportunities. Ensure that all normal industry norms are exercised for full optimization and to meet the set trading volumes and targets.
- Negotiate, execute and implement all spot and term contracts and trading strategies in line with company's policies, guide lines and directions/support provided by the Trading Manager. Effective and timely physical and paper positions taken against the market opportunities identified and to maximize profits and minimize losses.
- Exchange market information with external traders and internal trading team for prudent decisions. Ability to enter and exit a trading position in a timely manner.
- Participate in major industry events and meet trading partners, in order to analyze the market conditions, build relationship and exploit market and enhance business opportunities.
- Demonstrate good communication skills with full grip on market conditions and structure.
- Always exposed to basis risk by trading into various market under different price benchmarks, especially in the Middle East.
- Achieve growth in monthly and yearly trading volumes and profit targets set in the business plan.
- Maintaining good relationship with the customers and local authorities whilst safeguarding company interest.
- Maintain and/or build relationships with major suppliers, buyers and trading partners.
- Limit the company's exposure to risk.
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce and/or science/ engineering.
- Preferred Industry related courses on trading and technical analysis.
- 7-10 years of total experience in the Oil industry, out of which at least 6- 7 years minimum experience in physical trading in Middle East and Far East markets, with the knowledge of futures and derivative trading directly with the exchange of with OTC counter parties,
- Knowledge of physical trading related to shipping, operations and risk management capabilities are essential. Experience in storing and blending fuel oil and finished products will be an additional advantage.
- Know-how of correlations, between different markets needed to identify arbitrage opportunities.
- Good Knowledge of operations, shipping finance part of oil industry linked with any given trade.
- Excellent commercial awareness
- Ability to work under pressure in a time sensitive environment
- Requires quick decisions despite competitive and volatile environment.
- High level of disciplined is required to solve complex day to day problems.
