About the Role
DP World forms a significant part of the communities in which we operate – in terms of employment, wealth creation, environmental change and impact, health, infrastructure and education. The Sustainability Program Manager role is to be a strategic lead in the development and implementation of the global initiatives that sustainability reputation, integrity and credibility in the marketplace and positions DP World as a sustainability leader. In this context the role will need to be innovative, leading and strategic but will also require honed negotiation and influencing skills as the role requires a close working relationship external stakeholders and senior leadership at DP World.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage and develop DP World’s Global Education program phase 2 and take responsibility for the global education analysis and reporting
- Deliver DP World’s global commitments to United for Wildlife,
- Co-manage the sustainability system and approvals,
- Manage the UAE entities Group and drive collaboration, lead the development of the Jafza Sustainability Group and plan (engaging companies across Jafza),
- Develop and lead a marine protection partnership (globally) including data analysis,
- Develop global data and proof points for indices, awards and brand requirements, and align with GRI
- Develop Global Volunteer Week phase 2.
- Collaborate with HC on Diversity & Inclusion programs and manage our commitment to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles
- Support the Procurement team on engaging suppliers on sustainability programs
- Develop and drive a plan to align DP World with the Sustainable Development Goals
- Support the Director, Global Sustainability on the project pan for the Logistics Emergency Team
- Work with the Director, Global Sustainability and the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications to develop, coordinate and execute compelling external communications plans that seamlessly blend with employee communications and marketing efforts to publicise DP World’s sustainability efforts globally.
- Develop high-quality written corporate content including but not limited to: speeches, press releases, fact sheets, executive briefing materials, presentations, case studies, blogs, social media content, newsletters, white papers and opinion pieces.
- Develop proactive corporate storylines and thought leadership themes to position DP World as a sustainability leader.
- Manage the day to day development of DP World’s global sustainability communications platform, ‘Our World, Our Future’, across all channels.
- Manage all DP World’s ‘Our World Our Future’ messaging and coordinate regularly with colleagues globally to ensure all corporate materials accurately reflect the company’s current positioning, key messages and latest statistics.
- Develop, nurture, expand and maintain strong sustainability media relationships and help prepare executives for media interactions.
- Manage both incoming media inquiries and proactive outreach on sustainability issues, working with the appropriate colleagues to provide a timely response
- Drive executive visibility and thought-leader positioning for ‘Our World Our Future’ via management speaking opportunities, presentations, media relations (e.g. by-lines/blog writing, interviews) and social media engagement
- Collaborate across the organisation to integrate sustainability into corporate and regional business planning and strategy, while simultaneously working with Internal Communications to engage and inspire employees worldwide
- Manage communications for external sustainability collaborations, including landmark global ports group partnership “Go Green” campaign, our partnership with United for Wildlife International Taskforce, our Flagship Education Campaign, UN Women Empowerment Principles etc.
- Support the writing, organising, and overall project coordination of sustainability messaging in the Annual Report.
- Lead the project team for our internal sustainability awards ‘Our World, Our Future’.
- Support sustainability stakeholder communications including surveys, awards and reports.
- Measure and evaluate sustainability communications strategies and campaigns to demonstrate ROI
- Highlight best practice in corporate communications and ensure the dissemination of any locally effective innovative communication solutions.
- Manage and provide support for daily media monitoring needs for the company
Qualifications and experience
In order to give credible support to the organisation and be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following:
- Experience of being the principle lead in driving and leading sustainability partnerships
- Experience of managing multi-stakeholders to a common goal.
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field, for example business management, public administration.
- Ability to negotiate, influence and at times direct senior leaders and high profile individuals
- Proficient in managing and analysing sustainability data.
- Proficient at stakeholder partnership management
- Ability to influence and negotiate at all levels within an organisation.
- Experience of managing multi-partner stakeholders, and navigating successfully in multi-lingual, multi-cultural environments.
- Highly responsible, self-motivated individual, capable of performing effectively under pressure.
- Excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal skills.
