Head of Business Development & Marketing

To lead, improve, co-ordinate, manage and expand the Business Development and Marketing activities of one of the largest and longest established international law firms in the Middle East. This position will report to the Director of Business Development (UKMEA) and the Middle East Business Development and Marketing Partner, and work closely with regional management as well as with other key administrative staff. The position is based in Dubai and supervises a team responsible for delivering all elements of the Business Development and Marketing mix for the wider region. This role forms a crucial element in the development and improvement of the companies Business Development and Marketing capabilities at a time when the world's largest firm is changing rapidly as it expands globally. Responsibilities - Support delivery of Middle East strategy and implementation plan, working with the Global BD Director/ Director of BD (UKMEA) and regional management to ensure the firm's core service lines are driven through all groups/offices. - Actively engage with regional leadership and key partners/lawyers to maximise local/regional/global client and business opportunities, irrespective of practices/sectors. - Work with regional Managing Partners, regional Work Group Heads and other key partners/lawyers to identify cross practice targets and develop relevant action plans to ensure a integrated approach. - Promote/coach regional groups on best practice across the full spectrum of Business Development and Marketing, including but not limited to Bids, Events, Profile, Materials, Market Intelligence and CRM. - Ensure strong collaboration with the UKMEA and global practice including supporting regional and global practice/sector planning and implementation. - Collaborate closely with regional and global Marketing and BD colleagues to help drive/execute strategy and support building a strong, cohesive team. In particular work closely with the Director of BD (UKMEA) and Senior BD Manager responsible for Africa. - Lead the development of business and marketing plans across the region, and assist with ensuring that these plans are closely linked/aligned across the firm to encourage a more integrated approach to business development. Pro-actively manage budget for Business Development and Marketing activity/expenses. - Manage, coach and lead a committed team of five (based around the region) providing supervision/ allocation of work and delegation of work where necessary. - Lead/assist the regional team to identify relevant topics to form the basis of thought leadership and sector/service line specific campaigns. - Lead/supervise key regional initiatives driving business growth and market profile. - Other duties as assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position. Requirements - Significant Business Development experience working within a professional services environment – legal experience an advantage but not essential. - Experience of working within a complex matrix business environment. - Experience of managing and operating in a highly dynamic environment. - Experience of working in multi-national global firm with an understanding of multi-cultural regions. - Excellent writing skills essential. - Experience in bids to enable coaching and advising. - Strong understanding and experience of targeting, lead generation and client pursuit. - Marketing Campaigns experience – particularly in relation to future trends etc to create the subject matter for campaigns and how to use multiple channels to go to market and capture leads arising from these efforts maximising use of all of the highly functional teams within the BD and Marketing department. - Excellent proven people management skills. - CIM qualification or other marketing qualification would be desirable.
